  • Nelly sang so well! Nelly 唱得是那么好! “so well”在这里修饰动词sang。修饰动词要用副词。所以这里的well不能用good.
  • The one with shorter hair. 头发较短的那一个。”with shorter hair”是介词短语修饰the one. 介词短语作定语放在它所修饰的词的后面。 “hair” 头发指一个人的头发时没有复数形式。
  • You can tell that Lisa really wanted to win, though. 不过你能看得出来莉萨确实想赢呢。注意though的这种用法。位于句尾，前面有逗号，意思是“但是，不过”。如：I usually have breakfast at home, I sometimes have breakfast at school, though. 我通常在家吃早餐，不过有时我在学校吃。
  • But the most important thing is to learn somethng new and have fun. 但最重要的事情是能学点新东西，并且享受快乐 。to learn somethng new是动词不定式作表语，new修饰合成词something，所以后置。
  • A good friend is a good listener 好朋友应善于倾听别人讲话。当一个名词不是一个人的职业时，这个名词往往译成动词。如：一个同学请你教什么。教完之后，你可以谦虚地说： I am not a good teacher. 因你的职业不是老师，这时，该句就可译为 “我教的不好”。
  • I'm shy so it's not easy for me to make friends. 我比较腼腆，所以我不那么容易交上朋友。“It is + 形容词 for 某人 to do…” 对于…来说很… 做… ”是一个常用的句型。注意观察：It is important to study English well. 学好英语很重要。 It is important for me/you/us/them to study English well. 对于我/你/我们/他们来说，学好英语很重要。
  • … you don't need a lot of them as long as they're good. 他们不在多而贵在好。 “as long as” 只要。本句话直译就是“只要他们好，你不需要很多”。
  • Larry is quite different from me. 拉里就与我相当不同. “be different from…” 与…不同”
  • We can talk about and share everything. 我们无所不谈，可以分享任何东西。“talk about”后面省略了everything.
  • Huang Lei isn't as good at tennis as Larry. Huang Lei网球没有Larry打的好。“as + z形容词 / 副词 + as” 像…一样…” . “not as + z形容词 / 副词 + as” 没有…那么…” .

比较级(一)
      在英语里，如果我们要表示 “……比……”, 就要用一种特殊的形式，这在语法里叫“比较级”。英语的形容词和副词都有比较级。比较级的构成有以下几种形式：
      一、单音节词和少数双音节词，加词尾-er来构成比较级。
      1. 一般单音节词 未尾加-er　如：tall --- taller；great --- greater　 　 　
      2. 以不发音的e结尾的单音词和少数以- le结尾的双音节词只加-r, 如：nice --- nicer; large --- larger。 　
      3. 以一个辅音字母结尾的闭音节单音节词，先双写结尾的辅音字母，再加-er。 如： big --- bigger； hot --- hotter 。
      4. "以辅音字母+y"结尾的双音节词改y为i，再加-er。如：easy --- easier; busy --- busier　
      5. 少数以-er，-ow结尾的双音节词未尾加-er。 如：clever --- cleverer。
      6. 其他双音节词和多音节词，在前面加more来构成比较级。如：important --- more important；easily --- more easily　　
      如果我们要表示 “…比…得多”, 还可以在比较级前面加上 much 来表达这一意思。如：much better 好得多，much more imortant 重要得多
